Gel nails

I haven't been doing nail art for months by now. I kind of lost interest when I was done with school and I just had to study home. However, my friend, Emilia, has just got tools for doing acrylic nails and my interest in nails came back all of a sudden. I asked her to do me gel nails with my tools at home since I have always failed and now I have gel nails again!

I asked her to do them so that I could see if my tools and gels aren't good or if I am just doing something wrong. Now we just wait and see :)

Emilia used clear gel on my nails because I want to be able to do my nails on the gel and have natural looking nails if I remove my nail polish. The result is good and I hope these stay on for some weeks! (Emilia promised to do acrylics to me already, yay!)

I finished my nails with this reaaally girly manicure. I am not a fan of loose glitter but the result is better than what I expected. My next challenge is to not rip off my nail polish (and gel at the same time).
The pink nail polish here is by OPI and it is called Pink-ing of you.

DIY French Manicure

I don't know if I am the only one who things that French manicure is hard to do. I've tried striping
tape and special tapes for French manicure but they never work well and the special French manicure
tapes peel away the polish I have on the bottom.

Now I have finally found a good French manicure routine and I thought I would share it with you
guys! I don't know if this is a common way to achieve French manicure but I have seen just a couple
of videos where they have used this technique. Enjoy!

Here's what you need:

Nail polish remover, a bottle cap (or something else where you can pour some polish remover),
white nail polish, base- and top coat, translucent nail polish and nail art brush

I had an old French manicure tip duo and I used the side with opaque white polish. My base coat
and translucent polish are from an old French manicure kit. I got it as a gift so I don't know where
it is from! And as you can see, my base coat is OPI.

I started with applying base coat on HALF of my nail. You can do your whole nail but it isn't necessary. You just need it under the tips!

I used my French manicure tip duo and added white nail polish. As you can see, it doesn't need to
be neat if you have nail polish remover and a brush!

Pour some nail polish remover into the bottle cap or something else that you have chosen.
I couldn't really get pictures of this part but you basically just start removing the white nail polish
until you have the tip you want. Horizontal strokes are the best and I also "pushed" the nail polish
when I was close to having the perfect tip. And also, this phase is best to do when your white nail
polish is still wet.

Here are my nails after making the tips. Some of the tips were still quite transparent so I added another
layer of white polish. If you can't get it perfectly inside the borders you can just clean it with your
brush again.

Here are my nails after the second layer. It doesn't need to be perfect because we are still adding nail
polish on it which smoothens out the surface!

I added the translucent nail polish. This is the reason it needs to be translucent with this tutorial:
you don't want it to cover the tips of your nails or to change their color.

Now, if you want to stick with classical French manicure just add a layer of top coat and you are good to go! I wanted to add something still because I get bored of simple nails (and also not so simple)
even if they look gorgeous.

I used a detail brush and dotting tool to create the lines and dots.

OPI Black Onyx
IsaDora, 757 Scuba Blue
Easy Paris cosmetics, 035

I hope you liked these nails and hopefully this post helped someone struggling with French manicure! :)

Outfit 19/3

It was such a nice weather on Thursday and I felt like writing an outfit post after a long time
so I went to our backyard to take pictures! I don't really know another place where to take pictures.
I am not really a fan of doing it in public because I don't like to be the center of attention etc.
but it would look cooler than our backyard, haha.

I have also started using lookbook and I am not sure how to add the hype button here. I will figure
that out! Anyway, if you have a lookbook account and like my outfit, feel free to hype it HERE

I had to go to bank on Thursday and I changed the shoes to my Chelsea boots. I just thought
these shoes would look cool with this outfit when it is warmer and I don't need to wear a jacket
outdoors!

Jeans, Seppälä / Shirt, Gina Tricot / Kimono, Seppälä / Shoes, Spirit Store

I am not actually sure where my jewelry are from but I think the necklace is from Ur & Penn
and my rings from Gina Tricot or H&M! I would love to wear midi rings more often but
they fall off so easily from my little fingers ):

Here you can also see my new Kiko nail polish! It is a beautiful blue polish with some shimmer
in it. The shade is 521 Pearly Ocean. I have stamped one of my favorite prints on it with Konad.

March, week 1

Hello everyone! I've come up with an idea to make one post about my week once a week (of course...)
I don't have that many pictures of last week because I've mostly been to school preparing for exams
and studying. Tomorrow I will have the final psychology exam for which I've been studying for
4 months or so. I feel like I still know nothing. We will see how it goes!

I've been using our coffee machine like crazy. I just love cappuccino and latte macchiato! Also, this
machine makes the best hot chocolate that I've ever tasted!

I borrowed this book from library last Tuesday to practice some English before my exam (which I
have this Friday) but I finished it last week already, in 3 days. It was so good! It doesn't have the best
ratings (about 3.6/5) but I loved it. I think it was scary and I actually couldn't fall asleep the night
I read it. Well, I could, but it took some time and I had to calm down. Also, this book has "disturbing
found images" of asylums which I liked.

Studying psychology and drinking coffee. This has been my normal afternoon last week.

Can you see my roots? I am so glad I can dye my hair soon. I will go to hairdresser this week
and I really want the yellow tone out of my hair. I will see what they can do! Also, my goal is to get as
close as possible to my natural hair color. I will either ask them to dye it like that or put highlights
or make it gradient. Whatever they think is the best!

On Friday I went shopping with Petra before school and I finally found acid wash jeans that
I like! I also found this shirt, well, I am not really sure what to call it. Maybe a kimono but I always
think kimono is long.

The jeans! I like the gradient effect and acid wash together. I got these jeans from Seppälä.
These are also super stretchy and soft = comfy!

My Saturday oreo chocolate ♥ I also had a sleepover on Saturday with Anna but I took no pictures.
We actually watched three movies with her which is a lot for me since I watch movies quite rarely.
We watched We're The Millers, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (I really liked this one! I am
crazy about animation movies nowadays) and Easy A. The last one was kind of a cliché teenage
movie. It was fine but I liked the two other movies more!

Two manis! I started ripping off the red nails while studying so I just decided to remove it and
do a new mani because else I would have just ripped my nails even more and couldn't focus
on studying!

I love this blue nail polish! It is a neon glitter polish of Yes Love. I bought it from Spain and I also
have another one of these in purple which I wore last summer. Have I even shown you a picture of it?
Well, I don't have a good picture but here it is (after 15 minutes of searching) :

I am not sure which color I like more. The purple has more of neon glitter which I like but
this blue shade is also so beautiful!

Here is the kimono (I think?) I bought on Friday. It is also from Seppälä and it so so airy!
Perfect for spring and chilly summer nights :)

See how big it is? I like the shape! This isn't exactly my style but I wanted to be adventurous
and try something new and a bit different! I am trying to make my wardrobe a bit more unique
with clothes that have a special print or shape.

Well, there was my week! The post of week 2 will probably be even more empty since
I just have exams. I hope you all had a nice week!

Nails: Roses & Stripes with Essence

I got an idea to paint my nails only with one brand and I went for Essence. I thought it was fun
to have limited amount of nail polishes to choose from, so I think that I will do it again sometime!

As a base I used Essence hardening nail base which I have been using a lot recently. I guess it's working
since my nails haven't broken for a long time (I have just ripped them...)

I had already forgotten how much I love this color. It is almost exactly like a blue nail polish of Dior
that I have but €30 cheaper! This shade is called 98 walk on air. It covers the nail completely with
2 layers.

I used striping tape to make thick stripes on my nails. I could have done it freehand but why not to
use striping tape? The result is a lot cleaner.

I used Essence tip painter, 01 pure white. I bought this from the Netherlands during my Christmas
vacation because I think this is so handy and also cheap. I had one of these in my nail polish stash
already but it was quite old and thick already.

This phase is a bit messy but you can clean it afterwards. I used a dotting tool to make the base
of the roses. I started with one "ball" in the middle and continued by adding two other balls
next to it. This pink shade is called 177 happy end. It is probably my favorite pink shade ever! I think
this is the only bright pink polish that I own, though.

This is probably my favorite baby pink shade. I can't describe how much I love the nail polishes
of Essence. They have such beautiful colors and their nail polishes are also really cheap and good
quality! This shade is called 106 free hugs.

I started the rose shape in the middle where I added 2 dots/lines and then continued by adding
curvy lines around them. I painted the rose in the middle first and after that the ones on the both sides
of it. To achieve this look, I used a detail brush which I had cut by myself from a thicker brush.
For some reason I think that it's really relaxing to paint roses on my nails.
It is quite detailed but also easy.

I made the roses a bit more detailed by adding some white nail polish on them, inside the baby pink
curves.

Again using a detail brush I painted some leaves on my nails. Before I thought it was hard to
get the right shape but after practicing a bit I think it is really easy and fun. This green shade
is called 170 beijos de brazil.

On the last phase before top coat I made the leaves a bit more detailed with a lighter green shade
and I am happy that I did! They look a lot better and stand out from the background. This nail polish
is called 79 viva la green.

To finish this design, I used a clear nail polish of Essence!

I didn't clean the area around my nails that much before taking this pictures but I hope that
they don't look too messy! I really love this design. It is springy and  so cute!

February pics

Hello! It has been about 3 weeks since my last post and I won't probably make posts frequently for
some time still because I am mostly studying for my finals for a couple of weeks. After that
I need to focus on the entrance exams as well.

There are quite a lot of pictures here but I decided to sum up February in one post.

I am still crazy about natural yogurt with berries or banana and müsli! So delicious and it keeps
me satisfied for hours.

School stuff, preparing for my Spanish exam. I had listening comprehensions of English and
Spanish already and I am really surprised of my points! I got 78,5 / 90 points of Spanish and
77,5 / 90 of English. Really satisfied about the results :)

Random selfie on a school morning :)

We had a cruise where were only 3rd grade students of upper secondary schools. Coincidentally I met
Jasmin there, a friend that I saw last time about 1,5 years ago! I spent most of my time with her.
There was a well-known Finnish band on the cruise called Apulanta and they had a gig of 2 hours!

The next day we were sitting outside for a bit. The sun was shining and the wind wasn't blowing
at all. It felt so warm and springy!

I bought a body wash of Victoria's Secret and OPI nail polish from the ship. Also some chocolate and
mini oreo cookies, yum!

Had to try my new nail polish! It is more orange than I thought but it looks beautiful! I also wanted
to do some details on my nails so I practiced some flowers. They turned out quite well :)

First time using our special coffee machine. The coffees and hot chocolate are so delicious!

Starting a new book, Twilight, and eating cholocate. I was sick during the vacation week and I had
quite high fever at times. It lasted 5 days or so.

My chocolate stash.. maybe a bit too much :D At least I don't need to buy more for some time.

A beautiful nail polish of Lumene! Probably one of my favorite nail polishes.

Two days ago, on Friday, I went walking with my dad for 1 hour 40 minutes. I literally had to
jog sometimes because I couldn't keep up with him. After the exercise I had burnt over 700 calories
and my legs hurt SO much! And in the evening I had circuit training.. I wasn't almost able to walk
yesterday and it still hurts. Today I have an exercise again and I wonder if I can even stand up.

Messy nail art experience!

Splash nails. They turned out better than expected (even though I had some difficulties) but after
the next step they kind of failed....

Here's the result. The golden edges seemed like a good idea in my head but on my nails, not
such a good result. I had them on for a couple of days and I am gonna redo my nails now. I should
also study because I have been so lazy this weekend!
